The Symposium
When you think of the December month you’ll think of Christmas and New Years Eve, Christmas is about coming together and bringing people together. New Years Eve is about thinking about the future and making new years revolution, what can we do better next year? The event TogetherInto2015 is in comparison with the December month.
Within 15 weeks, three different Dream Teams have been working on an E-book about The Network Society 3.0. Each group has decided to take on a different approach to unravel certain topics. During the symposium, the Dream Teams will present the most valuable topic of their E-Book and this will be enhanced with a workshop in line with the presentation.

The background of the team is very diverse: from business development to economics and from international business to (interactive) marketing. However, we have one thing in common. We all wanted to learn to see our work field from another and new perspective: PR and communication in the network society. It is our goal to get an understanding of the tools offered by the network society and to get to know the benefits of social networking while being aware of the limitations. That is the reason why we also want to give professionals from another work field also more insight in this. Now, we know the importance and the possibilities of PR in the Network Society 3.0, but we want spread this message throughout the whole company.

Special Topic: Power of the community
William Shakespeare is certainly one of the greatest authors of his time, but also ours. Even though he lived ages ago, he already understood the importance of people thinking. In fact, this is also why his plays are still relevant in the modern world we live in nowadays. He understood how to reach people, creating the best possible audience for his plays. In other words, Shakespeare understood that the most important thing in your communication is your target group and how to build a strong relationship with that community: by content. it is not only an art, it is a way of life in the context of interactive communication in the global village!

Let us introduce ourselves: We are, Denise van der Lans, Luigia Serbanescu, Cindy Man and Kasperi Aaltonen, four students that started the minor #GetConnected this year at the University of Applied Science in Rotterdam. During our minor we came across a lot of new and interesting subjects, but mostly we have met a lot of interesting people that really inspired us to write Communication Goes Viral. We know that the role of a PR -professional has changed a lot over the years. We strongly believe PR -professionals nowadays, should train employees, or better said: infect them with communication. That is what our E-book is about!
